Calgon Carbon Corporation Starts Up New State-of-the-Art Activated Carbon Reactivation Facility in China

Calgon Carbon Corporation (NYSE:CCC announced the start up a state-of-the art activated carbon reactivation facility in the Suzhou Wuzhong Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu, China in mid December 2011. The Suzhou plant will provide reactivation services to industrial, food, and municipal drinking water customers in China. The facility will be operated by Calgon Carbon (Suzhou) Co. Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Calgon Carbon Corporation.

卡爾岡炭素公司（紐約證券交易所代碼：CCC）今日宣布 將于2011 年12 月中旬 在中國江蘇省蘇州市吳中經濟開發區， 建成投產全球最先進的活性炭再生工廠。 這家新建工廠將為國內的工業、食品及市政飲用水客戶提供活性炭再生服務。卡爾岡炭素公司的全資子公司 - 卡爾岡炭素 ( 蘇州 )有限公司，將負責活性炭再生工廠生產運行。

The first phase of the three-phase Suzhou project is an investment of $15 million USD.  Phase one of the facility consists of two independent production lines - one for reactivation of food-grade / potable water carbons - and  the other one for reactivation of industrial type carbons.  Each production line has a permitted production capacity of 5,000 metric tons per year.  The reactivation process and handling systems for food-grade / potable water carbons are completely segregated from industrial type carbons to avoid any potential cross-contamination. 

蘇州再生工廠項目分為三個階段。第一階段即投入1500萬美元建立兩條獨立的生產線。 一條用于食品級/飲用水活性炭的再生； 另一條用于工業用途活性炭的再生。每條生產線都擁有年產5000噸的生產能力和環保安全許可。食品級/飲用水級與工業級的再生工藝流程以及整個生產、服務操作過程完全隔離，以避免任何潛在的交叉污染 。

The Suzhou facility design incorporates resource conservation, minimization of energy usage, and high environmental protection standards. The plant has an afterburner and a two-stage scrubber to treat exhaust gases, online emissions monitoring instrumentation, solar powered LED street lights, and vacuum unloading systems to conserve water.  In summary, Calgon Carbon is committed to improving the environment in China in a sustainable and responsible manner.
